Anza
Valley
A modern frontier town in the Santa Rosa
Mountains
Anza is another interesting
valley and town. At an altitude of around 4,000 feet, it is between the
Santa Rosa Mountains and Cauhilla Mountain,
often considered as a separate range. With its farm land and cattle
pastures, it's a throwback to the
"good ole" western
days of the frontier town. There are cowboys and girls with their
horses, cattle, sheep and other animals. And there are many ancestors of
the peace-loving Cauhilla Indians who lived
there and welcomed the early Spanish explorers
during the 1770s. Although there are not many businesses and services to
support Anza's 8,000 plus population, this is starting to change as
developers and entrepreneurs are finding this future boom town.
Anza has both an elementary and a high school
with grades kindergarten through 12th grade,
and it's only 40 minutes to Palm Desert and 30 minutes down the highway
to Temecula.
As
evidenced by the Lake Riverside Estates, land can be
purchased starting at about $5,000 per
acre while custom and manufactured homes will starting
in the low $200,000s.
Anza is in the neighborhood of beautiful Garner
Valley where there are equestrian and ranch- style homes and it'ss also
on the road to Temecula in Northern San Diego County. Idyllwild is
just about a 20-minute drive.
